Neglecting my blog lately. Am assembling vocal/rhythmic ideas, using a mish mash of new approaches. Everything is humming smoothly in my studio, except for the incessant 4/4 clubby beat of my housemate's stereo next door. Music without variation makes my skin crawl. Stop that kick drum!
Have been very inspired lately, especially since seeing Severed Heads perform at Lanfranchi's Memorial Discotheque in Chippendale a couple of weeks ago. These guys know how to work a sound system and a video projector for maximum impact. I couldn't get my eyes of the screen. The first clip, 'Pilots Hate You' was a great opener with it's strange humour and amazing visual quality. Am a fan for life.
My other inspiration was hearing a Deprogram track on a Channel 10 telemovie about corporate corruption called 'Go Big.' Granted it was only about 3 minutes long, and could barely be heard over the dialogue track, I'm still proud that our music made it to the visual medium. I've been wanting to do screen composition for quite some time. I see this project as a humble step towards this end.
Going to the Sly Fox in Enmore tonight to see local Clan Analogue DJs from Lunar Module and Bleepin' J. Squawkins. Another dose of inspiration to help me forget the daily grind.

The new beta version of Ardour (Ardour-0.9Beta11) is out now on http://ardour.org/download.html.
Other exciting news is that I have found an extremely talented drummer to collaborate with. This will really influence the sound and rhythm of the new Deprogram album, as well as our live shows.
Am thinking of abandoning the CD format and making all of the tracks from the last album 'Exit' available as digital downloads on the Beat-Route Media site.
