I've organised a workshop at the Powerhouse Museum in association with the Sheila Autonomista Festival - Introduction to Open Source Audio. It starts at the beginning of the Easter long weekend;



INTRODUCTION TO OPEN SOURCE AUDIO


Date: Thursday 24 March

Time: 2 – 5 pm

Location: SoundHouse @ the Powerhouse Museum

We'll be covering some of the audio software applications available on the Gnu/Linux operating system. The workshop will explore a variety of different tools, from drum machines to mixing and multitrack recording applications including;

Hydrogen - Pattern-based drum machine and sampler with a simple user interface that is ideal for programming and arranging rhythm tracks.

Freqtweak - Offers realtime audio spectral manipulation. Effects include delay, gate, pitch scaling, compression and EQ cut/boost.

Mixxx – DJ mixing application with pitch shifting, effects and beat matching.

Ardour – Digital Audio Workstation (Multitrack recording program suitable for advanced users.)


Everyone will be able to take home a live bootable CD containing the operating system and software covered during the session.
