Blow by blow, we're getting through these 14 Deprogram songs - mixing, arranging and re-recording vocals. Robbie laid down some grooves last week with the acoustic kit. Usually we work till 3am or till I become incoherent.

The question I dread hearing most is "how close are you to finishing the album?" I usually turn on my vague expression & stare into the distance. Well, I can't really say. I used to think it was 6 months, a year or 2 years ago. It'll be finished when it's finished. No pressure.

We're having fun, that's the main thing. Ardour is behaving well with the new firewire interface now. We're cruising through a session with 50 separate tracks, plug-ins and all, and the program is acting more stable than Logic ever did for me. Things can only improve with version 2.

For light reading this week I found a manual by the KLF - 'How To Have A Number One The Easy Way.'Their cynical guide to hit-making is hilarious yet profound. Their tips on song construction led me to cringe and agree at the same time.

For driving excursions I've been enjoying Garage Pressure on Fbi Radio , Thursdays from 11pm, and Soul Train every Monday evening on Koori Radio.
