I dropped copies of the new single, 'Waited So Long,' to Dan Zilber, Music Director at Sydney's FBi Radio this week. He mentioned that the majority of submissions were from rock bands. I notice I've been hearing less electronic music and hip hop on Sydney's airwaves. There is a lot of rock happening right now, and lots of venues to help promote it.

I have a soft spot for rock, being an eighties child, and can never hear enough punk. Though there are times I want to hear a wider range of music. I end up spending most of time changing the dial to get a bit of variety. I always come back to 2SER's Electroplastique and Juvenalia on Monday afternoons. The first plays all Australian electronic music, then Juvenalia features more abstract stuff from around the world. So glad that community radio exists!

'Waited So Long' is now available as a free download from the Triple J Unearthed site at:

www.triplejunearthed.com/Deprogram

If you like it, or would like to hear it played on national radio, please vote for or review the track. I really hope that the Unearthed site will introduce some different styles and adventurous tracks to the Triple J playlist, which also has a heavy rock emphasis at the moment.

On Sunday we started the first of the Beat-Route sessions. The studio house where we live attracts a lot of musicians, so we decided to go ahead and capture some of the live jams that happen in the loungeroom on a regular basis.

We kicked it off with blue-tinged projections and an especially moody Deprogram set. The sound really works in that room, with the high ceilings and wooden floorboards. I'll be posting some video from it soon.

In coming weeks we'll be hosting some of our favourite bands like Entropic, Atomicide and F&C and putting live footage from the shows on the web.

My track, 'Controlled Impulse' has gotten the remix treatment again, this time by myspace friend, Sharcactus. Based in Germany, Sharactus makes percussive, glitchy electronica with punk and experimental leanings. He's right into collaborating and has offered me a track of his called 'Amoeba' to do.

Using random samples from the original track, Sharcactus has totally transformed my meandering electronic piece into an intense and driving track.

You can check out Sharcactus on myspace.com/sharcactus or contact him at mail@sharcactus.com
